The first thing you should know about Paul isn’t just that he’s a sparkie from Mudgee - it’s that he’s the kind of bloke who thrives on efficiency and refuses to settle for less than the best way of doing things. Running his own electrical business gave him the freedom to back that mindset: working to his own high standards, setting the pace on site, and making sure nothing ever slows him down.

“I started my business because I wanted the freedom to be able to improve things and get stuff done,” he says. “There’s always a better way to do things.”

As Electricians will know, there’s value in being organised on-site. For Paul, that means a tidy workspace and a setup he can rely on. The Centurion canopy quickly became part of that system.

The Centurion gives him full access to his gear from the sides, without crawling around inside the tub. At first operating out of a VW Amarok, he’s now in his dream rig, the mighty Ford Ranger. An off-road weapon that’s as at home on-site as it is off-grid with the caravan in tow. Having the Centurion available for both models of ute meant he was able to maintain that efficiency he’d fallen in love with in the previous set up.

No Wasted Space

Space is at a premium in any trades vehicle, especially so when opting for a ute over the classic electricians van, and wasted space means wasted time. The flat tub design of the canopy was what won Paul over. Every square inch is usable, and there is no dead zone where tools disappear into the dark corners or stuck behind plastic crates.

“You see some setups where it dips down or you lose the back corners. With this I can fit everything I need. Nothing gets lost and I know exactly where it all is.”
That kind of layout means fewer trips back and forth, faster jobs, and less risk of leaving something critical behind, and that’s exactly the kind of operational efficiency that Paul loves.

Choosing a ute as his primary vehicle has other benefits too. When it’s time to switch off and head outdoors, Paul has all the room he needs. Mountain bikes, camping gear, fishing rods; they all find a home in the ute when the Friday afternoon hits. When towing the caravan, everything that doesn’t need to be taking up valuable space is stored in the centurion for easy access at all times.
