Real Builds: Ford Ranger Next Gen - Touring Drawer Build
Posted on 22 May 2026 by Utemaster
This Ford Ranger Next Gen was built for serious touring. Kitted out with a Utemaster Centurion Canopy, a full drawer system, and a purpose-built camp setup, it's a clean example of what a well-specced dual-cab can do on the road and off it.

The Foundation - Utemaster Canopy
The build is anchored by a Utemaster canopy - the natural starting point for any serious touring setup on a Next Gen Ranger. Tough, practical, and built to house everything you need for life on the road.
Tub Setup - Drawers and Cold Storage
In the tub, Off Road Systems fitted an ORS drawer system - a fully lockable, organised storage solution that uses every centimetre of available space. No loose gear, no chaos at camp. Everything where you left it.
Alongside the drawers sits a dedicated EvaKool chest fridge, giving rear access to cold storage without having to climb into the tub. On a long tour, that small detail makes a big difference at the end of a driving day.
Canopy Electrical - Built for Off-Grid
Inside the Utemaster canopy, Off Road Systems wired up a complete KickAss Products electrical system. This isn't a basic dual battery setup - it's a properly engineered power system designed for weeks off-grid.
-
KickAss 2000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter - handles laptops, appliances, and sensitive electronics without issue
-
KickAss DCDC MPPT 40A Charger - keeps the aux battery charged on the drive, so you arrive at camp ready to go
-
Mule-Tek Panel - everything wired cleanly, labelled, and manageable
When you're 500km from the nearest town, that's the kind of system you want behind you.
